Terms of service
The terms on which Royal Reserve Limo provides chauffeur service. Booking a trip means agreeing to these.
The service
Royal Reserve Limo arranges private chauffeur and black car travel in Washington DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. We are a private hire service booked in advance. We are not a taxi, we do not accept street hails, and we are not a ridesharing platform.
Booking and confirmation
Submitting the booking form creates a request, not a confirmed trip. Your card is saved with Stripe at that point and nothing is charged.
A reservation is confirmed only when both of these have happened: a chauffeur has accepted the trip, and the payment has succeeded. Until then you have a request, and you will not have been charged. If we cannot find a chauffeur, you are not charged and we will tell you.
The price quoted before you confirm is the price for the trip as described. If the trip changes on the day, in distance, duration, stops or waiting, the additional charges set out in the cancellation and charges policy apply.
Payment
Payment is by card, taken after a chauffeur accepts. By booking, you authorise Royal Reserve Limo to charge the card you provided for the quoted amount, and for any additional charges properly incurred on the day under the published policy.
Gratuity is optional. You may add it to the card when booking or give it to the chauffeur directly. Nothing is added automatically.
Tolls, parking and airport access fees are added when they apply and appear separately on your receipt.
If a charge looks wrong, contact us before disputing it with your bank. We can resolve most questions the same day, which a chargeback cannot.
Cancellation, no-shows and waiting
These are set out in full on the cancellation and no-show policy page, which forms part of these terms. In summary: free cancellation up to 60 minutes before pickup, full charge inside that window, and full charge for a no-show.
What we need from you
- Accurate details. A wrong address or phone number is the most common reason a trip goes wrong, and a chauffeur who cannot find or reach you may record a no-show.
- Be ready at the pickup time. Waiting beyond the included period is chargeable.
- Reasonable conduct. A chauffeur may end a trip where a passenger is threatening, violent, or behaving unlawfully. The trip is charged in full in that case.
- Seat belts and the law. All passengers must wear seat belts. Children must travel in an appropriate restraint; tell us when booking if you need one.
- No smoking or vaping in any vehicle.
- Damage. You are responsible for damage or soiling caused by your party beyond ordinary use, including specialist cleaning where it is needed.
- Capacity. Passenger and luggage limits are set by the vehicle and are a safety limit, not a guideline. A chauffeur may refuse to carry more than the vehicle is rated for.
What we undertake
We will supply a licensed, insured vehicle and a professional chauffeur at the time booked, and keep you informed if anything changes.
Where a vehicle becomes unavailable we may substitute an equivalent or better one at no extra cost. If we can only supply a lesser vehicle, we will ask you first and adjust the price.
Delays outside anyone's control
Traffic, weather, road closures, accidents and flight delays affect road travel and we cannot guarantee arrival times. We plan generously and track flights where you give us the number, but we are not liable for consequential losses such as a missed flight, missed connection or missed meeting.
If you are travelling to a flight or a fixed appointment, please book with time in hand. Dispatch will advise on a sensible pickup time if you ask.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our liability arising from a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Property left in a vehicle is not our responsibility, though we will make genuine efforts to recover and return it. Tell us as soon as you notice.
Chauffeurs
Trips are carried out by chauffeurs engaged by Royal Reserve Limo, who are responsible for holding the licences, permits and insurance their work requires.
When we may decline or cancel
We may decline or cancel a booking where the trip cannot be carried out safely or lawfully, where a passenger's conduct makes it unreasonable to proceed, where payment cannot be taken, or where the details given are false. If we cancel and you are not at fault, you are not charged, and any payment taken is refunded in full.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
Before that, please talk to us. Almost everything is resolved by a phone call to dispatch on (202) 555-0147.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force for your trip is the one published when you booked, so a later change does not alter a booking you have already made.
